Freemelt receives F4E Innovation Pioneer award
Freemelt has been recognized as Innovation Pioneer at the 2026 F4E Supply Chain Awards by Fusion for Energy (F4E), the organization responsible for Europe’s contribution to ITER.
The award was presented on October 29, 2026 and recognizes outstanding contributions to Europe’s fusion supply chain. F4E works with more than 3,000 companies across 23 European countries in support of ITER and other fusion-related initiatives.
F4E recognized Freemelt for its additive manufacturing technology based on electron-beam powder bed fusion route for tungsten plasma-facing components. The route exceeded F4E’s requirements and led to an F4E contract for more than 30,000 tiles and monoblocks for JT-60SA.
“To be recognized by Fusion for Energy is a great honour. Fusion projects represent some of the most demanding industrial and technological environments, and this award is a testament to the competence, commitment and hard work of our team,” says Daniel Gidlund, CEO of Freemelt.
Fusion energy has the potential to play an important role in the future energy mix, and Europe has established a leading position through ITER and related programmes. Through its technologies and expertise within advanced metal additive manufacturing, Freemelt contributes to the development of capabilities supporting these initiatives.
Freemelt would like to thank Fusion for Energy and its partners for the recognition and for the continued collaboration.
